M31 Research is seeking a qualified Field Supervisor to oversee the design, implementation, and completion of an endline survey measuring awareness and investment decision-making among micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) related to climate-friendly energy technologies.
Scope of Work:
The selected consultant will be responsible for the following:
1. Survey Preparation and Planning
- Collaborate with the project team to identify 100 MSMEs for participation in Kisumu and Siaya counties.
- Review and refine the standardised questionnaire to ensure clarity and alignment with output indicators.
- Develop and finalise all supporting documentation, including consent forms and digital survey tools.
2. Data Collection Oversight
- Supervise fieldwork operations, ensuring accurate door-to-door survey implementation.
- Ensure strict adherence to the questionnaire structure, which includes:
- General respondent information (e.g. sex, intervention area)
- Awareness of technologies and their benefits
- Investment decision-making considerations and influencers
- Ensure collection of gender-disaggregated data reflecting both awareness levels and investment behaviour.
3. Data Management
- Oversee data cleaning and validation procedures.
- Submit a complete, high-quality dataset ready for analysis.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Social Sciences, Statistics, or a related field.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 6 years conducting quantitative and qualitative surveys.
- At least 3 years working in development cooperation or donor-funded projects.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Kenya.
- Languages: Fluency in English and Swahili (C2). Knowledge of Luo is an added advantage.
Additional Skills:
- Strong leadership and coordination abilities.
- Proficiency with data collection platforms such as SurveyCTO or KoboToolbox.
- Strong understanding of MSME dynamics and behavioural research.
